Hey all I have a Masterbuilt 40" and I am recently getting high yellow flames. I have never been able to really reach a temp below 250. I am considering a needle valve so I can do jerky and other stuff that needs lower temps. Can anyone suggest a valve that is user/ rookie friendly and any suggestions on getting a low blur flame?

I got one from bayou classic. On amazon. Has stainless braided line. I keep the controller on the unit set to 3/4 open and control the flame from the valve. Could probably run the controller on the unit at 1/2 open and really get a controllable low flame. I really like it. Got it off amazon.part number is on top right of box.

Yellow flames mean there is not enough Air at the burner. It is very common to have Spiders, or other insects, setting up House in the venturi tube that mixes gas with air. Try a Pipe Cleaner or wire coat hanger to make sure it is clear. Lots of guy have good success installing above. Search Needle Valve Mod for lots of info on installation and use...JJ

Thanks guys. Haven't done the venturi tube yet but will tackle that this week. Going to order that needle valve mentioned above seems to be rather popular choice on here
