I've got a vertical 2-door Master Forge propane smoker that I've had for years.  I've seen a lot of threads about not being able to get the temp high enough, but I'm having the exact opposite problem right now.  I've got my smoker on low (the propane is coming in at a whisper to make the flame as low as it can go) and I can't get the temp to regulate at 150-160 for smoked salmon filets.  Right now, the lowest I can get it is 220.  The dampers at the bottom are open and the chimney is open at the top.  Any suggestions?

How about propping the door open a bit? Or get a block of ice and put it in an aluminum pan if you have room. Just ideas. I think I would hit a buddy up for a little cheif if you know anyone that has one.

Thanks, that's what we did.  We couldn't get it to smoke well at such a low temp, so I closed the door to get the heat up and the smoke going, then we propped the door open a bit and regulated the temp that way.  Don't know if moving the smoker into the shade and out of the direct sun would help a lot in this Virginia summer heat.  I don't seem to remember having this problem when we attempted this in the fall.
