Like it says, I've been using the search function now for over 2 years.  Every question I had has been answered there.  I've gone from making meat masquerading as end pieces of creosoted railroad ties to smoked delicacies that disappear off the plate.  Nearly gave it up before I found this site.

I am now in the market for a new smoker.  I have an offset vertical smoker.  To make it work right I would have to buy a welder to fix all the leaks plus I'm not sure how long the fire box will last since it is cheap stamped metal.  Anyway as I was looking on CL for a inexpensive quality smoker I came across this.  I get the smoker part but what is the story on the vertical stack.  Is that an add on by the owner.  Looks like a good lightning magnet to me.
