Lump charcoal in WSM 14.5"

Has anyone ever used lump charcoal in the WSM 14.5"? I just got a large BGE which uses nothing but lump and have been getting some great smoke times out of it but miss the smoke rings from my WSM and was wondering if anyone's tried lump in the WSMs to get long clean smokes? When I run standard Kingsford on a long smoke, I'm cleaning out the firebox a few times to keep it burning.

For shorter smokes I use lump in my Mini-WSM. For longer smokes I use briquettes. I can run my mini-WSM up to 14 hours on a single load of briquettes. A full load of lump only gets 6-8 hours. The charcoal basket has to be over full and packed tightly.

I've used it too. I usually lay down 1 layer of briquettes first, then the lump. That way the small pieces won't fall thru the grate.

I've used lump a few times when I got my WSM but it's been all briquettes since then. I mainly use lump for grilling.

Has anyone used Kingsford Professional briquettes? I saw those the other day at Home Depot. Wondered if maybe those burn cleaner and longer. My problem with my 14.5 is the ashes pile up quick at the bottom and block airflow to the good coals.
