I can't concentrate--The Who in a 1977 concert--Keith Moon's next to last--is on our PBS right now. Whew!! Anyway, I'm Dave, in Pizza Oven...er Phoenix. I don't know why I bought a smoker, just leave meat in the car in the sun...
Anyway, my neighbor gave me an electric ECB when I tried to borrow it. The next day, I was into some of the forums. Now I've scored a Brinkmann Smoke 'n' Pit Pro--beat up and misused--for $40. First clean and tighten. Then clean some more, apparently. I need something large enuf for the racks.
The Who are back on. Set the wayback machine for 1977, when I saw them in DC!!

Whew!!again. They just finished, w/won't get fooled...OMG. So anyway...
I had this old ECB electric with no water pan--rotted thru. Goodwill and a $3 crock for crock pot fixed that. Today I got Eileen, a very used Brinkmann Smoke n Pit. With loose legs, hence the name. My local grocery keeps putting pork loin on sale for under two bucks a pound, so I guess I have to thaw one to make it my SNP 'spearmnt. I shoveled out a 5 gal bucket of ashes from the cooking chamber, brushed out a triple handful from the fire chamber. Now she's in the hands of someone who'll at least TRY to use her right. But now I've gotta start the mods--sealing, extend smokestack, baffles.
Thanks for all the advice you've all been giving, I've been soaking it up. Now to the proverbial brass tacks...
G'nite

hey Azkitch,

Nice score on the Brinkmann SnP. I have been scouring craigslist looking for a deal just like that...... LUCKY. I know that there are many ideas around here to help with mods for your SnP. There is a thread just for Charcoal smokers. Good Luck.

Yup. Wire brushed an hosed 'er out Sat., used up last of Kingsford leftover from old Weber Kettle (Why'd I let it go??) smokin' a pork loin. I've posted it several places, including azbarbeque & azbbqa, but here it is again. I work 4 day weeks, so I've got 3 day weekends to use smoking!!
