Does anyone else have a top grate that barely fits?

I've dropped my meat down into the smoker (once a brisket into the water pan) a few times, before I learned to be extra careful, while messing with the meat. Just a little nudge, and the grate slides off the supports.

What size is your WSM?

I have a 22.5 and have had very little trouble with my grill grates fitting, but I have a good friend who has a 18.5 and his grates fit really loosely. However we( him and I) bent the metal tabs that hold the grates up in the smoker body so that the grates and water pan fit more tightly.

hope this suggestion is helpful .

Yep - I have an 18.5". That sounds like a great solution. Definitely going to try that this weekend. Thanks!

Yeah, I know what ya mean. I figure that out by seeing which one totally falls through, and which one barely fits. lol.
