Hello, I am from the St. Louis, MO area and love to grill just about anything and all year long (which is a little challenging in the snow). I have a Weber Genesis Gold propane gas grill that is about 14 yrs old. A couple of years ago I bought a 6 inch long smoker box from Amazon that is v-shaped to sit between the steel flavor bars that adds great smoke flavor.I use apple, hickory or mesquite chips depending on the meat and my mood.

I was just given a never used Masterbuilt 30 inch smoker that was bought off QVC 2 years ago but never put together. Now I am doing as much research I can on what I have and how to use it. I believe it is a gen 1 (square analog controller) but it has a few differences over what I saw at Amazon and other retail spots.Maybe it was a special run? It has stainless steel door and the door handle is more like off a wood stove and does not have a separate latch on the side. You turn the handle 90 degrees and it catches the inside of the frame. Seems to be a little better design. It also came with a cover and a fish/vegetable rack for smaller food items..

Anyway, I found this place and can't wait to try some of the ideas I read. I did a 3 hr seasoning yesterday and it maintained the temp just fine.

Welcome from SC, Balcy. It's good to have you on this great site. I'm afraid that I don't know anything about electric cookers, but if you will go to the search bar at the top and click on electric cookers, there are tons of folks that are eager to share their knowledge.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe
