I have recently acquired an offset smoker.  It is an oldie but I think it has potential.  I would like to set it up as a reverse flow if possible but i'm unsure as to how to do the baffle that runs from the firebox to the other end of the smoker.  As it is, it is not a very efficient smoker and the firebox side is too hot and the smoke stack side is too cool.  I think this could be fixed if I move the smokestack to the firebox side and add a baffle.  I've got a friend with a car garage that is willing to help me out but I want to make sure i'm doing the right things to it and not just messing around hoping for the best.  I thought this would be a good place to start asking questions.  thanks.

Well JD, from looking at the pics, If your planning on converting it to a reverse flow (RF) you'll need to drop the

Fire Box down to accommodate the RF plate.

As it is now, The FB is way to high.

That's the first thing your gonna need to do.

Good luck and ask any questions you need help with

just wondering if u know what u got there under the smoker? dont let your car buddy swindle u for that axle rims and tires, they scream character and are worth more than u think prob

Raptor, I think you're right I def need to lower the FB and ideally put on a bigger FB.  Thanks

Clyde, I really don't know anything about the axle/ rims other than they're off a ford.  What can you tell me?

That's a nice looking smoker you got there. I'll be following your rebuild.

I think I know what they are. If they indeed are what I think they are, they are worth a chunk of change. I want too hear what Clyde says too see if I am correct.

My best guess is from a 34 Phaeton Standard...This I believe is a Deluxe...As far as the fire box goes he may get away with just closing off the top half or so, with a semicirular plate on the inside then run the baffle...JJ

im not sure other than 20's 30's ford stuff ,but my buddy builds rat rods and drives all over the east coast for parts and he's driven 12 hrs to grab a similiar rear with 2 rotted rims. start bringing that smoker places and watch how much attention it brings. congrats on your super badass smoker
