I will be the first of MANY who will suggest buy Jeff's rub recipe along w/ he sauce recipe. They are great together and seperate.

I'll second that......you can't go wrong with Jeff's rub or sauce!! However, if your just looking for rub recipes I've collected about 100 pages of rubs, sauces and directions.

Honestly, John, if you have no idea where to start, Jeff's is an excellent recipe. I don't use it often verbatim- my rubs tend to be alot less sweet and have some other spices. Here's a list of the typical rub I make- quantities vary. I suggest you start with perhaps a quarter cup of paprika and go from there.
Paprika
Dry mustard
Cumin
C.B.Pepper
Kosher salt
Celery salt
Sage
Rosemary

Sometimes I'll add Old Bay, some folks like cinnimon and/or nutmeg.

But if I were inexperienced in rubs/sauces, I'd buy Jeffs. Heck I DID buy Jeff's.

Can't go wrong with Jeff's recipes. You can tweak 'em if you want, but I'd be willing to bet you'll find they won't need much! Well worth the few bucks to try...

Cheers,
Brian

I cant speak of Jeff's rub, because I've never tried it. If you're looking for something out of a bottle, I have been very happy with Bone Sucking Rub. It's really good stuff.

Thanks, I was needing a couple of new ones to try for this week-end.

What a recipe site!

Thanks to all who replyed. Looks like I am going to have to get more ribs and just keep trying them all.

Not to be the odd man out here, but I've used Emerils whiz bang, with some brown sugar added, and been very pleased with it. It contains pretty much the same seasonings as most rub recipes. Will be getting Jeffs recipe though. I've gained too much respect for everyones opinions here to not follow up on them.

I use Emeril's rib rub also. The only place I've found the rib rub is at Krogers , or the food network store. It has never let me down. Emeril also has a good brisket rub recipie you can find on the food network. I tried it for new years. It was great.
