Smoking a 7lb loin for my sons bday party tonight. Need some rub ideas, help!
There are thousands of rub recipes on here. Do a little search and pick one.
I'd start with a basic then add as you see fit with other ingredients such as lemon pepper, paprika, sugars, cumin, chipotle, adobo, etc...
OR try A-1's sweet mesquite (found in most groceries spice section) on top of the basic
1 part Kosher salt
1/2 part garlic powder
1/4 part black pepper
Well thanks, I meant something people have tried. I know how Google works. 😒
Give Tulsa Jeff's rub a try. It is a good starting point and it helps keep the doors open here.
Thanks Schlotz. The reason I don't post much on message boards are because of people like mdboatbum. If your going to be an ass, don't reply please. I'll post some q views later. Please don't give me your negative attitude md.
Here's a pretty simple rub recipe that we like on pork. Not my recipe, so credit goes to someone else...don't remember where I found it, but I'm sure it was here at SMF.
Memphis Magic Dust Rub Recipe
3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup Morton's kosher salt
1/4 cup garlic powder
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
2 tablespoons ground ginger powder
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 teaspoons rosemary powder
Yield, makes about 3 cups.
Also, if you are looking to go with a commercial rub, my new favorite is Simply Marvelous Spicy Apple Rub. IMO, Very good on pork...especially if you like a little sweet and a little heat.
Get over yourself sparky. I posted the Google link as a joke, then changed it within 30 seconds because I didn't want to appear unwelcoming. I see now I should have left it.
No please! Lets share the smoke and get along.
Rub sounds gr8...how long do you usually let it sit in the rub b4 smoking?
