Cool, I have been thinking about putting a small 2 - 3" computer fan in my MES and my fridge build.

That is an interesting setup. Do you have a speed control on the fan?

The fan has three speeds. The funnel-taped-on-the-front is not very effectient. On low you can hardly feel and air coming out, but it shouldn't take much. My hope is that I can run the exhaust closed and the chip tube all the way in, yet delivering enough air for the AMNPS to work and keeping a gentle air distribution to keep the temp more even between the grates, and also maybe help with stalls. I don't ask for much, do I!

This idea started when I noticed that as soon as I opened the chip tube and exhaust, the readings on my maverick probe hanging below rack 1 and the MES smoker temp reading, drifted nearly 20* further apart.

I think I may be on to something here. Been smoking for about 2 hours with the vent closed as far as I can get it with my Maveric probe wires passing through, and with the chip loader completely closed, and still have good smoke from the AMNPS. Most incoutraging is that the probe hanging just below rack one ( Maveric's holder) and the probe laying on rack three are only a out 5 degrees apart! The bad news is I have to set the MES 15* higher than the temp I want at the racks.

This will need more testing, I have a couple of tweaks & tests planned out for next week.

I smoked again today -- two Chuckies, no-boil Mac & Chese, and roasted some peanuts in the shell. Gathered some good data on my mod. Need to find a day this week there I can do some serious test without having food to worry about. Maybe 3 pans of water, one on each rack, with lots of temp probes being moved around.

It would take some kind of special fan to survive in that smokey, greasy environment.and I don't think you really want much circulation as that would make stalls worse. What I'm trying to do is introduce just enough air to keep the AMNPS running without having to have the exhaust and the chip loader tube open, which I believe causes drafts that cause uneven heating and contributes to longer stalls.
