Well I had these chicken breasts in the fridge so i froze them when the power went out. Put in the fridge this morning to thaw, Got home about 5 and got the pit ready. Refueled the generator and fired it up again. Lit the chimney of lump and came in to get the chicken ready. Noticed the ceiling fan was turning and WOOHOO!!!!!!! Lights are on!!!!!! Cut some chunks of cherry up for smoking, and finished preparing the chicken. I had called the last remaining neighbor, single mom with 3 kids, and told her I'd bring down some chicken later. She said they had stopped at Mcdonalds but the kids were fired up about the smoked chicken and said they were still hungry. lol. I rubbed this batch with the Lysanders Spicy Bourbon rub and wrapped em up. started em off with some apple and then switched to cherry. Smells really good so far......

Chikn breasts rubbed and wrapped......

They're all finished now but I have some cleanup to do.

Back with the final in a bit.

Looks like a good start and I'm sure they will enjoy them. Congrats on finally getting the power back on I'm sure that will make life around your place much better. Course the neighbors may blow up the transformers so they can keep getting that great Q

Thanks Rich. Here's the final pics. They were nice and spicy but not too hot for the kids. Very tasty and also tender and juicy. nothing left but smiles. :)

Finished breasts before they were attacked.....

Juice on cutting board after cutting in half. These were really good....

Thanks for veiwing my Qview and prayers and best wishes to the families that are still suffering the effects of this storm.

Super job, nice that you care about your neighbors, wish I was your neighbor. Points If I can give them. Sorry, I couldn't but I tried.

Thanks Kelly and Ron. I know if you guys were in the same situation you would be doing the same. You do what you can, and in my case I had the equipment and means to cook. I guess we were pretty lucky I stocked up on meat last friday. Pork loin, shoulder roast, chicken breasts, bacon, sausage and family pack of ground chuck kept us and the neighbors well fed. We had chips, stuffing, canned veggies and such in the pantry as usual but we went through most of my lump over the last few days. Half a bag of RO left and 18 pounder of kingsford brikets. Guess I better check walmart and see if they've restocked the RO yet. It was kind of like camping out only you're doing it in your house. Glad it's over for me but I feel for those poor people in Texas. Hope they get relief soon. There's still 250,000 here without power as well but we have repair crews that came down from Ohio and Indiana to help out our crews. It's going pretty well here.

Glad to hear you got your power back!! Hopefully your area will be back to normal soon.

And how good is your cooking? Well when kids would rather have your smoked chicken than McDonald's I'd say you're doing pretty well.
