Greetings Everyone!

I finally seasoned my 40" Masterbuilt Propane Smoker. I used a 9" cast iron skillet I found

at a friend's yard sale to hold the wood chips. That skillet worked beautifully. The cast iron

retains that heat and really gets those chips smokin.

I had a nice blue smoke coming out of the vents and I used Hickory for the first seasoning.

I even started a Smokin Journal . So I can keep track of my smoking experiences & recipes.

Now all I have to do is wait for the next shopping day and decide what to smoke fist in my

smoker

Hi Forddood

Thank you for your reply. There have been some nice Butt roasts on sale locally and I might give one

a try in the smoker. I watched the local AM weather forecast and it looks like it will be some good smokin weather this coming weekend.I And I have my fingers crossed that nothing else is going on.

Again I appreciate your suggestion. It sounds sooo good!

Sid, JMO , but do some Chicken and burn in the unit well, top heat(275*F or so) and let the Birds grease get all over the insides. Then after a couple of Birds , get a Butt and have fun...

You do like Chicken don't you

Greetings oldschoolbbq !

My family and I LLLLLove Chicken! We have it couple nights a week at least. My husband likes

a leg or thigh or one of each in his lunchbox when he is at work.

Thank you for that bit of delicious information. I will be making a trip to the store before this weekend. I will let you know how everything turned out.

I really appreciate everyone's kind advice in SMF. This is the forum site for me!
