Just ordered my new WSM!!!

Discussion in 'Charcoal Smokers' started by pigsmoke, Jun 4, 2013.

  1. As the title reads, I just ordered my Weber Smokey Mountain off of Home Depot's website and needless to say I am thrilled. I went with the 18.5" model and I can't wait for it to arrive and get started on smoking some delicious meat!

Well, that's all I wanted to share with you. I couldn't keep my excitement contained any longer![IMG]

Congratilations, Pigsmoke . I know the feeling. I was on pins and needles when I waited for mine...then it was day befoe F-Day and I called the shipper and said I was hoping for it for F-Day and he got the Driveer to agree to drop it off at the house...[IMG].

this was the cause for excitement...

Have fun and enjoy  your new toy...send lots of Q-view.

You will NOT be disappointed!  I have the 18.5" as well and I can fit plenty of meat on mine!  I've ran four pork butts at once without a problem!  Make sure to read up on how to light the coals to maximize the time you can maintain heat!  Again, you'll love it, I would make the purchase over again if I had to!

I would have went with the 22.5"..... [IMG]

[IMG]......ooops, I was just kidding. There's a thread (probably many) going back and forth about the two sizes of WSM and which one to buy.

    They're both great smokers.
  14. Thanks all for the well wishes! I have done lots of reading on the "Minion Method" and how to smoke ribs, butts, chickens, and all the others, so I just can't wait until it shows up and I can get to smoking. I was waffling back and forth over whether or not to get the 22.5" but I only have 3 people to cook for so the 18.5" will be just fine for most of the time.

Now I just need to find a good thermo-probe and I'll be pretty much set for the start of my smoking experience!

Most people here that own a Maverick ET-732 are happy with its performance, but I'm sure there's other good thermos on the market. Good luck with your search and your new WSM!

Super grats! You will be very happy with it!
  17. I second this. Works well for me and not all that expensive.

I have to say I have a new addition to my family as well. Finally ordered a Weber Genesis E-330 to replace my 911 grill (named because every time I fire it up someone has to call 911).
  18. Two words, Minion Method!

Enjoy the thing holds temps steady once dialed in. Good luck and Post Q-view.
