Hello fellow meat maniacs!

Just joined the group today and I am looking forward to being a part of the family.  I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself.  I live in the great Pacific Northwest, but am actually a transplant here.  My wife and I have lived in Washington State (Cowlitz County) for 23 years.  We have three kids.  Every one of us is a meat fanatic.  Prior to moving to Washington, I lived in Georgia and South Carolina.  Yes, I am a southern boy through and through.  I love my mama, my country and my food.

I have owned a grill ever since I was a teenager.  I use them so much, we go through a grill about every three years...no matter how well I clean and take care of them.

A few years ago, my wife bought me an offset smoker.  I immediately got hooked.  I started making some of the best food and had a heck of a fun time in the process.  But, as you all know, using a stick burner takes a constant eye...and  sometimes it feels like a little too much work.

So...today...after 4 months of researching, asking around, reading forums and watching videos on You Tube...I did it.  I purchased my first pellet grill smoker!  As of a few hours ago, I am now the proud owner of a brand new Rec Tec!  I am so pumped!  It should arrive in about a week and a half.  Yesterday, my wife and I special ordered 12 racks of ribs through Zaycon.  So in a couple of weeks, I should have the smoker running low and slow and some fantastic baby backs waiting to melt in my mouth!  I will be sure to take some pics as the magic happens.

See you soon!

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Drew-Welcome to the SMF family! I run a Lang 60 deluxe and know what you mean by needing to keep an eye on it-but nothing beats feeding the fire!

Pellet Smoker Grills have really taken off in the last couple of years and from what I've read, the Rec Tec units are built a bit better than the other pellet units out there.

You should feel right at home here as we have a number of members that are in the PNW area.

Looking forward to your adventures with the Rec Tec and I'll see you in the forums!

Enjoy the Smoke!

Hello Drew, welcome to the site, lots to learn and share here, I know you are excited about your new smoker, looking forward to seeing those Ribs.
