Thumb of Michigan
My name is Ira, from the Thumb of Michigan. I've just started smoking meat about two years ago, not the best way, because I just used my double burner gas grill with a cast iron skillet over one burner with wood and charcoal. But it worked and must say I did get some good comments from friends and family that really liked my results. Just bought a real smoker last week, a Smoke Hollow #6 propane smoker. Did a pork butt roast so far and it turned out great and much easier then using the grill. Kept a good constant temp at 220, set at just a little above low. with an outside temp. of 35. My concern is when summer comes along and the outside temp is around 75/80 degrease. will I be able to keep the smoker temp down low enough ?

to the forum, I would think you would be able to keep it in the 225 to 250 range

Welcome Ira! I have a Smoke Vault gas smoker & it works fine in the summer down here in Florida.

Ira, Welcome aboard !

You are at the right place to have all your questions answered about smoking meat and much more. The people here are awesome as is the forum itself. Once you get used to using your unit you will not have a problem with the higher outside temps. "UP IN SMOKE" from Texas.

Welcome aboard, Ira!

Don't worry about it!  If you hang around here you will have a smoker and a bunch of other new toys by summer.

Good luck and good smoking.
