Southern California
New to the forums and looking forward to learning from everyone. I am a southern California native, husband, and father of three. I enjoy the outdoors and grilling. My day job is as a youth worker and organization development practitioner. Tonight I am trying a 24 hour soak of cherry and hickory for some lean top sirloin tomorrow night. I use a 12 inch Weber grill with natural charcoal.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome, Freejames.

Please let us look over your shoulder by sending photos.  We love the photos.  Enjoy, and take advantage of all the resources available here from all over the world.  GOOD LUCK!

Here's two pictures of the outcome of my grilling this week. The cherry and hickory smoking won over my wife (she was previously turned off by the strong hickory smoke flavor). Looking forward to learning from the ecourse and the forums. Thank you everyone for the greetings and suggestions!
