So my wife surprised me and got me a smoker (I had wanted one for a long time) for my first father's day. I've always loved Barbeque and grilling so getting a smoker just seemed like something I would really enjoy. Anyways, I literally have no idea what I'm doing so I was just cruising around online looking for tips and it led me to this site which has been pretty helpful thus far - figured I would register and get in on the action.

I have been messing around with it the past few days trying to get the temperature control down before I actually throw some meat on there. I plan to hopefully try a rack or two of spare ribs this Sunday. So if you're in or around the Bellevue, NE area this weekend and smell something good, it may very well be me :)

Welcome, I'm new to this community as well! Your wife was thoughtful to buy you something so versitile. Good luck and have fun. Be careful though, it's very addictive.

Welcome, glad ya joined us ! Congrats first on your first Fathers Day.... That's awesome ! Nothin like being a Dad ! Also, congrats on your WSM... I have had one for years & it's a great smoker.... First thing I'd do is take your water pan & fill it with sand & cover over with a few layers of foil for easy clean up ! It's a heat sink & sand works way better than water ! Also, there's a WSM owners group if you'd like to check it out, here's the link !
