Hi everybody, I'm Judd from Minnesota. I just recently joined the SMF site and and I'm enjoying exploring it. I currently have a Char Griller barrel grill with a side smoker attachment. I love to smoke pork shoulders and ribs. The Char Griller has been good to me, but it's hard to control the temperature and it eats charcoal like crazy. I'm interested in moving onto either the Big Green Egg or the Kamado Joe. Any opinions out there on which one is the better of the two? I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

Hey Juddly, welcome to to forum!

The search bar at the top of the page is gonna be your best friend when visiting the site. Type in anything you like and you will surely get a boatload of results.

Found a  thread that may interest you regarding your question on Kamado vs. BGE;

Also if you have not done so already, you can view smoker reviews by clicking on 'smokers & more' right above the main search box. The reviews are well done and cant definitely guide you in making your decision.

Actually when I started shopping for my first smoker, I was also very curious about the BGE. My Buddy had one and I thought it was very pretty! LOL Was after I read the reviews and threads in this forum that I decided that the WSM was a better choice for my needs and my size family.

Regardless, you came to the right place for any info on smoking or smokers! Look forward to your smoke posts in the future....good luck!

Thanks Gary! I'm just scratching the surface and it seems like there is so much info! Can't wait to dig deeper.

Great to have you join us Judd, :welcome1: from North Dakota!
I don't you can go wrong with any choice in the ceramics. Personally went with Big Green Egg because of the warranty, availability of OEM and after market accessories.
