After doing much research, I just purchased a Brinkmann Trailmaster LE.  I have BBQ'd for most of my adult life, but took a real interest in smoking a couple years ago.  I am ready to dive in head first and pick-up pointers along the way.  Look forward to being a part of this group, thank you.

Welcome to the forum

don't forget to go to the new members area and tell us a bit about yourself so you can get a real SMF welcome.

Looks you bought what we would call an offset smoker.  I used/have a very similar Okie Joe for many years.  Offsets can be a challenge as far as keeping temps stable but they produce some great food.  Just be attentive and don't let the fire get out of hand.  A smaller fire with smaller splits of wood seem to work best.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

Many of our members have years of experience in smoking meat.  They are more than happy helping Newbies learn the art.

We have members who cure there own Bacon, Hams, Jerky, Snack Sticks, Make Their own Sausage, etc. if you want to learn,
this is the place.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of them and follow their advice. You won't be sorry, you will be making great Q in no time at all...

Just remember, when curing your own meats follow the instructions included with the cure to the letter, this is not something to experiment with.

Never use more cure no mater if it is Tender Quick or Cure #1 or Cure #2 than the manufacturer says to use, this can be very dangerous.

Tender Quick and Cure#1 or Cure #2 are not interchangeable, neither Cure #1 interchangeable with Cure #2 or vise versa

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome!  I look forward to becoming a regular and chatting with you all.  Now just wish the rain would stop in California long enough so I can put my new baby together, can't wait to try it out.

I'll trade you some free advice for some of that rain.  Never thought I would say this but SE Louisiana is in a serious drought or at least my farm is in a serious drought.  I think I have inadvertantly invented a rain shield that is sitting over my garden and newly planted pecan trees.

Welcome to SMF. Glad to have you here. Aren't you in No Cal just North of Sacramento?  Looking forward to seeing your qview
