juice/booze when foiling a butt....

    Yes? How much? No? See all kinds of opinions.......sorta making my head spin....

    Butts I have done I have not foiled...but the wife does not care for a real chewy bark.....and I would like to try sumtin different....

    My thoughts are :

    1. Yes - add something when you foil.

    2. Some - you need to add some liquid.  How much depends on you.  I do about a 1/2-1 cup.  I stick the meat in the foil and then dump some on.  You don't want a swimming island, and you don't want it dripping all over the deck, but you don't want it dry either.

    3. I don't do straight booze, it can get bitter, but a little Jameson in with the juice never hurts.  I tend to use apple cider.

    captain morgans and apple juice. Best of the best for the butt. About a quarter cup of each.
