Greetings forum members. I've been lurking on here for about a year. Last summer, my dad gave me an ECB smoker and I threw a brisket on it. I've been addicted ever since.

I'm one of those nerdy types who loves to research, so before I started I browsed the web for some good bbq sites. This has been my first, and usually only, stopping place for all things smoke and meat related.

Over the last year, I've been able to smoke half a dozen briskets, a couple of pork butts, and two racks of ribs. Nearly everything has turned out well, mostly because of the tips I've picked up here.

In May, I picked up some guys home made heavy duty off-set smoker for $100 on craigslist. It's been awesome to play with and since my wife is a huge fan of smoked meat, I've got an open invitation to fire it up any chance I get.

I just posted my pics of our 4th of July dinner. I'm now the official meat guy for our family meals.

Thanks so much for all the participation on this site. It makes life much easier for hacks like me.

Adam glad to see you quit lurking and joined the SMF family. As you have discovered theres lots of info and some great recipes here. Have fun and happy smoking

Welcome and good luck with your Q's.

Congratulations on two counts, Adam! One, for no longer lurking

and two, for the great score on craigslist. You have any pics you wanna share ?

Thanks for the nice welcome. This is the smoker I bought-

I feel bad for the guy who built it. Apparently he gave it to his sister and she sold it on craigslist for $100. It's a bit rusty, but there was a lot of time and attention put into this smoker. It should serve me well for years to come.
