    Greetings Meat Smoking Enthusiasts!

I wanted to drop a line here just to fill you all in on why I joined this forum. I have been interested in getting my own meat smoking set up ever since my father-in-law started feeding me ribs and pork tenderloin off his little electric rig he bought some time back. The more I researched the subject the more interested I became in the hardwood/charcoal side of things.

The "labor of love" that comes with tending to coals, hardwood sticks and air flow is very appealing to me. Also the hurry up and wait aspect of meat smoking is equally appealing. It's the same reason I started brewing my own beer and frying turkeys, anything that'll give me an excuse to sit in my back yard and sip on suds... sign me up.

I have already found a ton of useful information on this site and I hope to avoid posting questions and topics that have already been answered (probably a million times). But all in all, I'm really looking forward this season that promises to be full of smoke!

I'm gonna mosey on over to the RF build section and post pictures of the project I started this weekend. Please check it out and give me feed back, I'm a big time novice when it comes to all things low and slow.

Thanks for the welcome, its been a long time since I've ventured to become apart of a forum community and this place already feels like home [IMG]. Homebrewing is great fun. Although the constant need to sanitize equipment part of it can be a bit nerve wracking at first, it becomes second nature.I'm in the process of transitioning to an all-grain brewing method, although getting my smoking rig up and running has drawn most of my attention lately.

    Mr T 59874,

Thank you for the link, gonna check it out now. I'm motivated to do as much homework as I can so when it comes time to fire up my rig for the first cook, I'll be the least terrified as possible....

    Gary s,

Thanks for the welcome sir! I hear you, I'm in NM and had to pinch myself this weekend with how nice it was out. Everyone who had a motorcycle seemed to be on the road while I stayed in the shop and worked. We will see who has the last laugh come grilling/smoking season.

There are many great people here.  I have never been turned down when I have requested assistance.  I recently did some Canadian Bacon with assistance and encouragement from Bearcarver.  There are too many experts to list, just read and you'll figure out who they are.
