Hello everyone!

I've been reading this site for weeks and finally decided to join in. I'm a country girl stuck in NJ trying to cook the foods I grew up with. Last year I started smoking with a Brinkman Smoke n Grill and loved it! Chicken and pork are all I did. My brisket was terrible everytime I tried, so I gave up.

I am currently searching for an electric smoker 30 or 40. The window is cute and all but with our winters, I don't want to risk temp fluctuations from heat loss.

After all the info everyone here has posted, I still can't decide which Masterbuilt model to start with, there are so many with differeing reviews. Any advice on that would be great!!! I don't have any "building" skills to make too many modifications. I will be getting help from AMNPS for the perfect smoke once I choose a model.

I BBQ 2-3 times a week from spring to Fall. My goal is to finally master a smoked brisket and tender ribs, without cheating. Everyone here is so helpful, I know this site will bring me from Smoking newbie to family Pit Master :)

Hello Sia M and welcome! You've found a nice friendly place to learn and share. We enjoy helping one another, so just ask when you have questions.

There are a lot of good MES models to choose from...here's one I used for a long time. It's an MES40, first generation design, with remote and 1200 watt element. I used it year-round and never had a problem with it holding temps:

Have fun and happy smoking!

Welcome to the smoking meat forums. I am formerly from Wyckoff, New Jersey and now reside in sunny Florida.

I think that we all work well together and most assuredly love to share all of our experiences and lessons learned from smoking the gamut of products and having a blast.

If I can ever be of any help to you, please don't hesitate to send me a message.
