I posted up in the wrong spot.this is my second batch of jerky for me.the first batch I made a long time ago in my big chief electric smoker when I first got it.it turned out great and my daughter really loved it.
This batch I'm using High Mountain spices.hoping it turns out good.
I used half of an eye round and a flank steak.

My daughter is waiting for me to try jerky. I am watching for beef to be on sale but lately it has only been pork and the wife says she is tired of pork. I am beginning to wonder about her. Did you use any cure? I'll be watching to see how it turns out.

Jerky looks tasty. What did you not prefer about it? Texture, taste?

  looks good from here.

My smoker is on it's last legs.the ring around the burner is rusted out.to much yellow flame and not good smoke.
Time to get a new smoker/cooker.
The seasoning was ok,but needs more flavor.I used the high mountain original blend.thinking Sunday road trip to somewhere and look/pickup a new one.

My daughters gave me a smoker for fathers day last year.  My daughters were 10 and 7 at the time so really, I bought myself a smoker and had the wife wrap it with them.  lol  Either way, I was trying it out for the first time and I was also marinating some jerky at the same time.  I decide to put half on the dehydrator and half on the smoker.  Long story short.  I now sell beef jerky ay my local farmers market because the smoked one turned out so well.  I love smoked jerky!

Google jerky marinades on line.  you'll find some great ideas.  I don't like store bought mixes.  I like to make it from scratch.
