hi, ya'll. i am a retired banker/high school math teacher that has been a bbq judge for 2 years now. working on my kcbs master judge certification. i have 16 of 30 judging events completed before my test.i started on a brinkmann electric smoker and i have been smoking on a bbq master gas smoker for several years and just got a char broil gourmet deluxe side box smoker to visit the charcoal world once again. i am also a licensed scca corner worker (one of several that man the flags and driver rescue at each corner of a road race). i only do what i want to do in retirement! i am a vietnam veteran (usaf), a grandpa and drive a 99 corvette convertible.

my smoking success is usually average but i want to become better. i have worked on a championship competition smoking team(4 smok'en butts) and i have joined this forum to help me learn more on bbq'en.

looking forward to communicating with you.

Welcome Jim

Looking forward to learning what KCBS identifies as good BBQ.  I like my ribs fall off the bone tender with a bit of char on them so judging from what I have seen on TV I wouldn't do very well in competition.  Same with chicken, when the pros turn in chicken I always think the skin is undercooked.

Oh well, as long as the plates are empty at the end of dinner its all good

Welcome and don't forget the Qview.
