Northeast Arkansas
Hello all! My name is Wes and I'm from Northeast Arkansas. I love to cook in general. Although new to actual smoking, been grilling frequently for years. I have even tried to smoke butts on my grill...turned out fair, but not as good as I feel that I could do. I don't have a "REAL" smoker yet. I started a small one out of a hot water tank a few years ago and never finished it....decided it wasn't as big as I wanted it. I have a 250 gal. propane tank that is going to be a smoker (hopefully in the near future - I have read and am heeding the warnings from the forums). Matter of fact, I have been lurking in here for the past three days. So much, the wife has threatened to throw the cpu out. I just start reading and can't quit. You guys are killin' me with the recipes and all the pictures....can't wait to get started, may have to buy a small smoker to suffice until I get the big one finished. Sorry for the rambling...just so fired up right now. It's great to be able to have the resources that are here. Maybe someday I can contribute to future newbies. Keep the smoke goin'!

Welcome aboard and glad you stopped lurking. Have you taking the 5 day course? Lots of good info. Glad to have you hear.

Hello Wes, and glad to know you're part of the SMF. Good luck on your choice of smokers... it's all good.

Wes, now you got the smoking fever!! Welcome to the SMF!!!

Welcome aboard Wes. You've found the right place for smoking, especially if you're new to the game. There's a ton of information on here and a bunch of people willing to help. Speaking of NE Ark I was in Jonesboro last weekend.

Part of the theater is still standing. There is a building where they filmed part of "Walk The Line"....the wood shop portions. They actually filmed quite a bit of the movie here in town. My wife's grandfather and J.R. were best friends growing up. They have several small concerts here, raising money for a museum that they are planning to build. They're around the Fourth of July. I'm very familiar with Mammoth Spring, I grew up in the Hardy area. Mammoth Spring was the closest place to get a cold one....lol. Have trout fished hundreds of times at Dam 3 Access and Cold Springs curve. Also too many canoe trips to remember. Thanks for the Welcome.

Jonesboro is about 40 mins from me. Are you familiar with where Marked Tree or Lepanto is? Lepanto is about 8 miles from my house. Thanks for the Welcome.

Thanks to everyone that posted a Welcome message. Everyone here makes a person feel welcome and there is so much information. Can't wait to get smokin'

Welcome to SMF! It sounds like you've really got the bug for smoking and ya don't even own one yet.
