Hi,

I am in the market for new smoker and looking at the Yoder YS640 but found a dealer down the street that sells Louisiana Grills (no Yoder dealer near Annapolis MD) They are not the same price point but interested if it will work for me. I have searched here on the forum and online only to find limited reviews. Any feedback on the CS-570, CS-680 would be helpful. Temps even, swings, grilling/searing mode, digital control etc. Also the Chimney less Design

Thanks,

J.T.

Welcome Aboard! I initially misread your title and was going to tell you all about the summer I spent with a gal we used to call Little Red who hailed from Baton Rouge. Then I remembered this was a smoking forum, and you'd probably said "GRILLS" as opposed to "GIRLS".

I can't give you any advice on Louisiana Grills (or Louisiana Girls for that matter, except that I learned the hard way they can be unpredictable and most know how to shoot pretty well) but I'm glad to hear Bay Stoves is still in business. Been meaning to head over there to look for some pellets for my cold smoker. From the website, the grills look pretty well built.

ChesapeakeSmoke, check with Yoder they will tell you if there is a dealer nearby, their site lists a place in Dover,DE. I was at a bbq competition back in August and one of the teams was cooking on a Yoder 640. I spoke to them and Yoder had lent them the grill. I went back through my pictures and they had banners from Galvinell Meat Co in Conowingo. You may want to give them a call, can't hurt to ask.

If you are into a road trip, there is a place called Tastylicks BBQ Supply in Shillington, PA. Fred carries the Louisiana, MAK, Green Mountain & Memphis pellet smokers, as well as Komodo Joe, Meadow Creek, BBQ Guru and Webers. He also has pizza ovens and gas grills as well. That should cover most of the grills and about an hour and twenty minutes east, north of Allentown there is a Yoder dealer. Penn Hearth in Coplay, PA is the dealer...this is who I am getting my Yoder from come spring.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys, I took a look at the Louisiana they had down the street from me and decided I will spend the extra $ for a Yoder. I did however find a local place I can get lump charcoal, pellets and other things so that was a good find.

MDBOATBUM, where do you do your boating or dock at? Middile of winter and I already have the itch to get back out there on the water.
