for a while i was trying all kinds of rubs and while some were great there is nothing like a simple SPOG rub. i am going to try and follow the old KISS rule, Keep It Simple Stupid!

it really was amazing! i used one large chunk of hickory wood and 4 medium chunks of pecan. the flavor was impressive!

Hi Guys, they don't let me out much, can I ask what a SPOG is please?  I like KISS, works best for me.

SPOG = Salt Pepper Onion Garlic

And I agree! When I first started I had seen too much BBQ Pitmasters and was trying to get fancy and then slowed down and started keeping it simple and I have found I am getting much much better results. I have learned to let the flavor of the meat stand out, all it needs is a little enhancement like SPOG, it doesn't need anything fancy covering up all the good natural flavor!!!

Thanks both, since I posted I've gone through millions of word combinations in my mind, not one came close!

Gary...I can only imagine what you came up with.  My Brit friends still laugh at some of the words that we use...and yours are totally different.

Bless you heart!
