Just want to reach out and say hello. My name is Rob, I'm 32 years old and I have just gotten into this whole smoking thing about 6-8 months ago or so. Didn't even realize they had a meat smoking forum. LOL! Anyway, I just figured it would be a great idea to join and share tips and tricks for making some killer BBQ.

So I started off with a 36" wide Jenn-Aire gas grill. Had it about 8 years now and up until 6-8 months ago I never attempted to slow smoke anything. I would try to make ribs time and time again and they just never turned out right. So finally I decided get on the computer you goof and look it up. Well, needless to say I was doing the typical male thing... you know where they never read any instructions and try to do everything themselves? yeah that got me far! so I did some reading, found some books, followed some recipes... boom! Huge difference. My grill still does a great job with lighter duty foods. But considering the 4th of July is fast approaching, I decided that when I woke this morning to go buy a Masterbuilt XL Smoker. Going to attempt my first brisket tomorrow. Gonna throw her on at about 5 a.m. Wish me luck.
