Hey guys! I'm not to the forum and smokers in general.

A little about me: my name is Kyle. I live in Iowa and am am electrician by trade. With a huge pain for fishing and the outdoors.

My son got me asmoker for father's day. My smoker is a master built 30" 2 door propane version. Since its my first, I wanted something fairly simple.

Greeting Kymer and well met.

This place is amazing, it has so much stored up knowledge for research plus Smoke Guru's standing around talking smoke all day. They are so good they even help by type of smoker. My biggest suggestion, get a dedicated notebook, cardex, flash drive, or file and keep notes of your smokes. By doing so you'll know what you did last time opposed to this time and how it affected the end product as well as the tweaks you want to attempt in the future.

Get a drink, kick off your shoes, relax a cruise around. check out your smoker, meats, woods, rubs, brines, temps, etc etc etc.... There is no wrong way to smoke, there are some easier ways than others, there are those who like the old ways, there are those who just enjoy eating their mistakes. And once you get your feet wet, you'll be addicted, you'll be looking for reasons to smoke, even making up holidays.

Nice meeting you Kyle and good luck with your smoke.
