I actually enrolled in the 5 day ecourse before I registerd, and then I thought that I should register as well because my questions probably won't all be answere with the ecourse.

About 2 hrs straight west of you. Around the Bedford/Bloomington area.

Well, I don't exactly have a "reasonable" size smoker right now. I have a hog roaster/smoker combo that I occasionally roast a hog on. I built it last year on a budget. Most of the materials were scrounged for free. The most expensive parts were the LP stuff for the burner I made which came in at about $75. Behind that was the trailer frame, with a title for $25. I have 23 square feet of rack space in it, which is a bit on the higher side for smaller smoking projects IMHO. It also doesn't fit in too well in my housing addition, so it stays at my parents house (3 hours away). So basically right now I'm without a smoker. But I hope to build a smoker out of a used steel drum (UDS) when I get the time. I have 4 electric burners from a kitchen stove plus the controls and wiring that I plan to use for the heating elements when I get the time.

As you can tell I'm a DIY guy. Grew up on a farm, with a fully trained and fully capable welder/fabricator for a father. I'm now a mechanical engineer.
