I'm starting off with an 80 gallon Compressor tank.  Building a standard offset smoker.

I have the dimensions of the FB, along with the stack.

My questions are:

Is there a list you all use for when you go buy your steel?  I don't want to make multiple trips to the steel yard.  also, what kind of steel to purchase.

Example would be the racks for inside the smoker.  I'm going to build two.  What kind of angle iron do I buy?  1/2", 3/4", is there a certain kind of steel?  How about the diamond grating?  I heard it has to be a specific kind designed for heat.

So far my list is:

6 pieces of 1/4" steel for the FB 19" x 19" (I'll cut one smaller for the door.)

2 pieces of 8' long 2" x 2/16" flat stock for around the smoker door and FB door.

1 piece 2" x 4" square tubing 42" long for my stack, or a 4" round tube, 25" long.

I'll need the materials to build 2 shelves, and the mounts, handles, hinges, legs, ect.

I'm using this calculator http://www.feldoncentral.com/bbqcalculator.html

and the picture on the bottom is what I'm going to build.

How's the progress coming? I'm in the middle of a 70 gallon air compressor tank build. I'm having a blast doing it!!! Never welded before and I took a class at the local community college to learn and been burnin' sticks every chance I get. Here's a few pics and feel free to ask any questions. I bent my own metal rod for hinges, made an axle for pneumatic tires, etc. I've never worked with metal before so learning as I go. Best of luck!
