I've got the opportunity to buy a brand new WSM 22.5 or a brand new Braunfels Super Longhorn Deluxe.

What should be my choice and why.  Please elaborate.  The cost will be about the same for either.  (400.00)

Thanks,

The Rookie!!

Hi there, welcome to SMF! I'm sure one of the mods will move this to the Roll Call section where you can be properly welcome to the forum.

I don't have either smoker but here's a link to a fellow member who is looking to sell their Braunfels Super Longhorn Deluxe, and the reasons why:

On the other hand, I've heard zero complaints about the WSM product (especially the large 22.5 like you're looking at).

Here's a link to some of the fellow members (including the owner/Admin of the site - Jeff) reviews of their Weber 22.5:

Good luck with your purchase!

First of all, Welcome to the SMF forum Sneal.  I hope you enjoy whichever smoker you decide to choose.  Having said that, I can tell you that I am a proud & very happy, satisfied owner of the Weber 22.5 smoker.  I could not have made a better choice.  Now between the two smokers, I won't dis-respect the Braunfels.  I will only endorse the one that I own.  You can't go wrong with that choice.  Good luck in your decision making process.  And please enjoy your stay.

Welcome SNEAL!  I don't own either but have heard nothing but good things about the WSM

Enjoy your time here and always feel free to ask questions, lots of good info on this site with tons of helpful friendly people to guide ya.

Welcome to the SMF, please give us a little introduction about yourself. I can't comment on either smoker, as I'm not familiar with them. I moved your thread to roll call so that everyone can give you a warm welcome. It's all good my Friend.

Sneal, Welcome.  I don't have either of those smokers, but my brother has a WSM and loves it.  I have never heard anything bad about them and you see a lot of people using them at competitions as well.  Hope this helps, good luck.

First off welcome Rookie to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction
