We have an editor on the forum.... He/She is a computer.... Not real deep in the brain department.... Has a habit of putting "new to the forum" folks posts and threads in a holding cell until they can be reviewed by the judge.....

Please be patient.... It is a necessary step to keep out he spam and "evil doers" that lurk about on the web....

Someone will clear it up soon.....

Meanwhile, click on the word "forum" and find "roll call" and introduce yourself so we can give you a proper welcome....

Need a bit more info.  Your tag says you only have one post so it may be something you did making the post.  Give it another try.

BTW if you make a picture post as a new member a moderator will have to review it before it is visable on the forum.  Once we get to know you you won't have the delay

Welcome to SMF

appriciate the responce. I had the company party yesterday at my house without the misses. she had volleyball all day so i got the cooking duty. I cold smoked hot smoked and just plain cooked coho for everyone. It turned out incredible. i have been reading this site for about a week to prepair for the party. So on wednesday I found a great price for a MES. My post was about the heat in the rear right corner. Is there a way to control that hot spot. I think its an air current problem to the vent. Just a guess. Any help would be great.

If you are talking about the one on the lower rack on the right rear side ....thats where the heating element is. There will just be a hot spot there.

Tsunami,

Welcome.  Like Dave said, please go to the Roll Call area and tell us about yourself for a proper welcome.

As for the hot spot on your MES, if you search using "MES hot spot" you'll find 200+ threads on the subject with a bunch of suggestions to deflect the heat and give a more consistent temperature.

Good luck.

Curt.

Above are the mods I have made... Still using them... as far as I am concerned they work very well... Dave

If you look under the foil lined drip pan you can see the front edge of a tile that is cut diagonally and wrapped with foil... the front edge is about 1/3 and the back edge is about 3/4 of the width of the smoker.... the right side and the back side are about 1/8" from the smoker.....  just trying to get the heat to the front left corner... on this mod....  Dave

First off welcome to SMF there Tsunami. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.
