After reading the forum for a couple of hours I just couldn't wait any longer! My boys and I (ages 11, 13, and 15) went out to the workshop to see what we could put together. We built the frame with 1x2's and then covered the inside and outside with 3/8" plywood. This gives about an inch of airspace for insulation. The inside dimensions ended up being 22"x17"x46". We put a 1500w electric burner with a 10" cast iron skillet to hold the wood chips. We drilled two 1 1/2" breather holes - one on each side. Then two 3" vents at the top. The two vents on the top have a sliding door to adjust the opening. We then made little frames to attach fine mesh wire to keep out all the little beasties. So that's what we ended up with. We will see how it works out! Any suggestions or comments are very welcome.

At this point I just need to find some racks in town. We only go to town about once a month so in the mean time I will use those rods to hang the meat from. I will also need to order a few thermometers. I plan on trying a few chickens tomorrow.
