Hi!

I was at work today and while doing something that didn't take much thought realized that many, many years ago I bought an ECB. I couldn't get it to work the way I thought it should and gave up smoking meat. Not sure where I put it, I wondered if I had tossed it or sold it or what. Then, I thought it might be in the old garden shed that I've been meaning to tear down.

Got home from work and went straight to the shed. Way in the back, under a bunch of other stuff I forgot I had, there it was. I dug it out and started cleaning it up. It's missing one grate, but everything else is there.

I've started researching mods for it since I now know that I can get it to do what it was intended for. Smoking meat! And ABTs and ....

Now, I have TWO smokers! My first thoughts were... What do I smoke first? Not sure. This was property tax week so just a tad short on grocery money. That will give me time to do the research, make the mods and decide what to start with.

EDIT: It's at least 10 years old, probably closer to 12 or 13. Here's a photo of it fresh out of the shed. I have cleaned it up some.

Think this one is pretty close to the original. Almost 35 years old now. Notice the difference in the lid to barrel configuration. Yours fits in barrel, mine fits over. Still a smoking machine after all these years, although I only use it for my shorter smokes now. Great find

Seriously, I bet the food from that contraption is just as good as food smoked on any high dollar rig you can find. Beautiful in it's simplicity, imo.
