I know, Big talk for an Old retired welder from Idaho, a state famous for barbecue right?

I am writing this post to explain how the mistakes I made in designing and building "MaGilla", created the best Barbecue Smoker in the world.

I AM NOT HERE TO SELL ANYTHING!  Just to present some concepts that may help with your build.

My Wife Judy and I used MaGilla for several years, doing Concessions at Fairs, Art's y Fart's y Functions, Parties and Full menu Catering.

There is a long story about how I came about designing and building "MaGilla"  my smoker.  If you go to the "MaGilla"  blog link,, scroll down to see some detailed photos.

I have made some minor improvements and upgrades since the original build.

I can't sit to long to write so I have to keep my post short. If I get some response I'll try to answer all the questions I can.

Nice job you did there Dan. You do know some of your ideas are going to get borrowed big time, right?

Ahoy Dutch, Thanks for your comments.

I decided to do this post to share with builders how this smokers works. I made some mistakes when I built it, but those mistakes are what makes it work so well. We'll see if there is any interest.

Dan
