n00b from Austin Texas here.

I've been doing a ton of propane grilling lately and I'm interested in trying smoking again. I had one of those cheap Brinkmann style charcoal water smokers several years ago that I did a few turkeys and some other stuff in and I really enjoyed it.

I believe that charcoal is where the flavor is at - but I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of perfection to make things easy on myself. I started out this morning looking for an electric smoker so I can start smoking again without having to fiddle with it all day and I ended up settling on a propane GOSM that I'm planning to order shortly.

Hi from Austin. Welcome to the SMF. You will get great tips and ideas here. These smokers are awsome. I'm a noob with a MES I bought a week ago, so the smoking thing is relatively new to me. I also do quite a bit of grilling on my Weber Genesis. A word of caution: The Qviews will instantly increase your appetite and make you go screaming to your butcher.

Welcome from another Texan . Brinkman makes an easy to use electric smoker that is around 69.95 to 89.95 depending on where you shop . I promise you it is the easiest out there today .

Welcome to the SMF, you're in good GOSM company here. I hope you were able to order the big block. It's all good my friend.

There isn't a bass pro anywhere around here (well, 1.5-2 hours away in San Antonio I guess), but I found them available from Wal Mart online for cheap.

I'm not sure which one if the "big block" since they don't use that name anymore:

They only call it a 25" for some reason, but it's got the exact same part number (3405BGW) as the 34" one on the Landmann site (and cheeeep!)

GOT IT!!!

They left the push lock things that hold the thermometer out of the hardware bag so I had to get a bit creative:

Gettin' my SEASON on!

I'm going to do a test smoke tomorrow with some turkey legs and drumsticks.

Assuming that goes well, I'm thinking of trying pulled pork on Sunday. I've got a big week long offroad/camping trip coming up and it would be awesome to bring out a big pile of awesome meat to be reheating all week
