Mark here from chilly cold Southern California. Just recently picked up a Master Forge double door propane smoker. Tried a friends smoker last month to cook a tri-tip and it came out insanely awesome. Before that all my tri-tips were strictly grilled. Was so impressed I went out and bought one for my birthday. Now after MANY, MANY years(going back to when I was around 8 years old) of wanting a smoker I now have one.

Last weekend I smoked 6 tri-tips for our baby shower. Funny thing is that after cooking all morning before the party that when it came time to cut and eat I wasn't interested in eating anything I had cooked. Luckily we had a ton of leftovers and my appetite returned in full force and I had tri-tip leftovers for the next 4 days. Tomorow, X-mas eve I will cook a 13 pound brisket for tomorrow evening dinner. Gonna start cooking at 3am so it will be a long day.

Hello Mike and Welcome to SMF. Used to live in Torrance for many years. One of my favorite restaurants is still there - Via Firenze.  Glad to have you here with us.  TriTip is my alltime favorite smoke.  I just did one last night with a Java/Coco/Cinnamon rub that is killer on TriTip.   If you want the recipe send me a PM.
