Hi All.

Greetings from Wisconsin.

Long time reader.  First time poster.  Finally had to take the 30 seconds and register.  Usually too busy reading and researching all the great info here to take the time to register.

Been smoking for about 4 months with a break for winter (3 feet of snow slows down the smoking).

I have a Cookshack CSK-SM050 Series 50 Electric Smoker.  Great little smoker, especially in the colder temps here.  Been making Pork Butt and Ribs lately.  Still perfecting my style and getting to know my smoker.

Being an electronics guy and engineer, the item I want to make is my own "thermometer system".  Have the standards like multiple smoker probes and multiple meat probes with remote monitoring.  But I would love to add the ability electronically control my temperature in my Cookshack 50 (even remotely), record temperature readings at intervals (like every minute or so - hey I'm an engineer and like numbers, data, and charts), and then feed this into a program that could analyze and display this info (hopefully through an internet accessible webpage) and maybe eventually have this wind up on my smart phone.

Not afraid to get down and dirty with the electronics, I know that type stuff .  All I need is a push in the right direction for what components I need.  Or at least what terms to search for.

Anyways, thanks for the immense forum and all of the great information.

Happy Smokin'.

Welcome to SMF - glad to have you here with us. I am very interested in your controller quest. I have a SmokinTex and would love to hear what you come up with.  Hopefully it will be simple enough for this simple mind
