Howdy all! I am new to meat smoking and have no idea what I'm doing. I just saw my first chapter come thru on email. Can't wait to start reading it. I am an 8th grade shop teacher by day and a machine shop teacher at the local community college by night. I deer hunt and being 15 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico, I fish a lot when it's not hunting season. I got my 2nd and 3rd deer this past weekend and am looking for something a little different than just cutting them up into steaks and hamburger. I have no curing equipment but have a buddy with a dehydrater who will trade the loan of it for some fresh venison. I am interested in making a smoker, maybe someone has ideas or plans for that. Good to be here!

A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Start reading through the build forums.  Get an idea of what kind of smoker you would like to build and then start researching that sort of smoker and asking particular questions.  You will get loads of help.  Lots of different smoker builds on this site.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
