Hey name is Joe I'm about to build a reverse flow smoker out of a 250 gallon propane tank. I'm picking up a 4x8 trailer tomorrow to mount it on that. Question is how big of a fire box should I put for a smoker that big? I'm not a big smoker guy but I have done it before on electric ones which is a lot easier I think. I tried the Felton calculator and it came out to be like a 26inx26inx26in box which seems a little big but I'm not to sure. Any help would be appreciated since this is my first build

    Hey Joe, welcome here.

I don't know enough about this type of

    smoker to answer your question.

But a 250 gal.tank is also quite large.

Anyway if you don't get your answer here

jump right out into smoker builds and ask.

    You will get answers.

    Keep on smokin'                                       Ed

Welcome from SC, Joe. It's good to have you on this great site. I really like your name. You must be very smart and handsome. I'm not a builder, but from what I've read, your FB sounds a little small. I think that the rule of thumb is a 1/3 ratio between CC and FB. According to my math, yours would be closer to .30. The builder folks might say that this is close enough. Some of them will come around to help.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe (that other'n)
