I've been a subscriber to the newsletter for a year or so and figured it was about time I got little more involved here.  I'm fairly new to cooking on a smoker (about a year and a half) and I'm absorbing all the great info on the site.

I actually have two smokers, a charbroil horizontal and a homemade horizontal.  The charbroil is a hand me down that needs to be retired.  It is being propped up with bricks because one of the legs is rusting away and the rack is being held up with pieces of hangers.  It still smokes to good to put to rest.  The homemade one is my pride and joy.  It is built out of a fairly large air compressor tank and has a nice sized firebox.  I can build a good fire and let her go for a while and not have to worry with it.  I will try to post pics if I can ever figure it out.

If you are ever traveling through my neck of the woods chances are you will smell smoke.  Since I have picked up this new hobby my wife hardly has to cook anymore (I don't think she minds it either).

I'll quit rambling now and sit back and see what I can learn from some of you pros.  Thanks for this awesome website that has continued to fuel my new found addiction.

Welcome!  We would love to see pix of your old and your homemade smokers.  And don't forget the Q-view!  Posting pix is pretty easy on this site.  Once they are on your computer, just click the picture button on the toolbar and select the file/photo you want to insert.  Click "OK", and it will drop right into your post.

First off welcome Luke to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

    Welcome to Your New Addiction
