My name's Chip and I'm from Pittsburgh, PA.  I am smoking my first meat, which happens to be a 6 lb pork shoulder, as I type this.  The Master Forge double door is my weapon of choice.  I got into smoking by mentioning to my wife how fun it is hanging out with my neighbor and knocking a few back while getting our smoke on, so when Christmas rolled around, I was pleasantly surprised.  She said she did a bit of research so I'm assuming the MF is prenty decent for a noob.  I gotta say, I had no clue what I was doing, aside from a few pointers here and there from said neighbor, but this place is amazing.  What a wealth of knowledge!  Anyway, glad to be here and thanks for all the help!

Looking good so far:

I have the Master Forge and LOVE it. I feel it is a darn good smoker especially for the price. One thing I suggest you try out is to run play sand in the water pan in place of the water. You will get better temps, and a much faster recovery time after opening the door. If you already haven't added a gasket to the door I also suggest you do that as well.  If ya have questions post them up there are quite a few people here that use a Master Forge.  You can also shoot me a PM if you like I am always willing to help out.

Welcome!  I have the same unit and like it very much.  I've had it less than a year and have put alot of meat thru it.  Dont forget to post us some pics of your creations.
