I just found this group chasing down an add for a smoker. So let me tell you a little about my self. I'm from Sam Diego CA. I don't know if any one ever ate at Clay's in La Jolla but that was the first real Texas barbeque I ever ate and was immediately in love. Clay's is long gone. In 1994 I moved to Austin TX. And got a job at The Green Mesquite. http://www.greenmesquite.net/ I learned barbeque there as a fry cook and eventually was kitchen manager and pit master. I ran the kitchen for about 3 years after that I went Scholz Garten http://www.scholzgarten.net/ to help them get that running right. I eventually left and got into custom cabinetry because my family has always been in the trades and I make a lot more money. When there's work that is. So I'm looking for a real good deal on a used Ole Hickory rotisserie pit and I'm going to start doing BBQ out here in San Francisco where I am now. So that's that look forward to chat'n ya'll up. Peace out!! Che.

First off welcome Che to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Thanks for joining us/returning to the SMF. I'm sure "The City" will enjoy the benefits of your Q. It's all good my friend.

Welcome aboard! Great folks here! Is it the same "Green Mesquite" that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives? I have that one recorded.

Welcome Che,

That rocks that you are trying to bring some good q to the west coast.
