I have been smoking a whole turkey in my smoker with no problem. But I am having to cook more now. I'm smoking a whole turkey and a turkey breast. How do I stack in my smoker? Do I put the whole turkey under the turkey breast(which would put the whole turkey closer to the flame)? Do I need to stagger them? I can't put them side by side (not enough room)

  2. I see that this is your first post. When you get a chance will you drop by roll call so we can all give you a proper SMF welcome.

Now to your question. I don't know that it much matters. What smoker are you using?

    Happy smoken.

Master Forge. The breast should cook quicker than the whole turkey, so that means I should put the breast above the whole turkey, correct?? Thank you for help.

do you have thermometers? If so you could check the temps of each area. I used to have an ecb and the upper rack was always hotter. I reccomend a maverick probe setup if you dont already own one.

I will be using theometers in the meat. I only have the theometer on the door. I have never checked rack for rack for temp. I just go with the door themo. ( I never have had any problem or temp. changing. I smoke around the 240 mark and have great results. I just dont know which to put lower on the rack or closer to the flame. Even if the top gets hotter will the whole turkey not absorb alot of the heat due to the size and cause the breast to cook slower on top?

Haven't used a vertical since the old ECB days.

My biggest complaints with them would be getting things in and out.

If anything is coming out sooner than something else?  Top shelf for sure.

Don't worry about the dropping grease myths?  Other than that some grease tastes better than others?

    Good luck and good smoking.
