So how are you guys getting temperature probes into the uds?  Until no I have just been putting them through the hole in the lid, but this would require me to unplug the probes to remove the lid.

I need to figure out a way to put the probes into the smoker so I dont' have to disconnect them.

I was thinking  about a small rubber grommet with a hole in the center to poke the probes though would be great but I can not find one that is Food Safe.

so how are you doing it?

also I don't want to sandwich them in between the lid and the smoker either.....

Weber has a silicone probe gasket that you can buy from ereplacements.com

Or you could drill a hole just big enough to run the probe through. If your worried about it cram a small piece of tin foil in the hole to seal
    It up.

    Requires a 1 1/4" hole.

When I ordered the three I got that was all they had. So they must only stock a few at a time.

1 1/4" hole saw works the best for drilling your hole. To reduce burrs drill from both sides. The grommets a bit tricky to get to seat, but it will.

I just have a small hole in mine that is big enough for the probes to fit though. I don't lose to much smoke through it,

I just ground a "U" shaped hole in the top rim of my drum...It allowed the prob wires to sit under the lid's edge undisturbed because the wires could not be pinched by the lid's bottom edge.

Worked great and never had to disturb the probes when checking on the smoking progress.

    Happy Thanksgiving,
