I asked my wife to get the smoker started for me, but I forgot to tell her to remove the Maverick et 732 from under the smoker lid. When I got home my wife had the smoker setting at a perfect 225°F, but when I removed the lid to add the meat I got a horrible suprise. My transmitter was setting on the rack and had started to melt. Needless to say, I had to order a new thermometer.

I've been married long enough to know that it was all my fault. She just told me to buy another one. Ain't she sweet.

Ouch... But... It did take on some very nice coloring.. little longer some good crispy bark would have appeared..

kidding aside.. I use to store all my toys above the sink, until one day I opened the door and the cat was in there and pushed about $200 worth of temps, gauges, probes, etc straigh into a batch of oil I had cooling off in the sink (in a pot)

... I have a gun safe now for the toys..... the guns are the big vault :)

Some lessons are best learned the hard way. No room in my gun safe for anything else, but I'll find a nice secure (cool) place for the new one.
