Newbie question.

Has anyone ever tried smoking plain, old, boring, cheap, hotdog wieners?
Is it worth the effort?

I'm looking for something cheap and easy (little or no prep) to through on with my other meat so I have something to snack on while I'm smoking. I was also thinking that they may taste good inside an ABT.

Any thoughts?

Hey, if you can eat it, you can smoke it. I've never personally tried it, but give it a shot and let us know how it works for ya'!

I will have to try this on this weekend too! First smoke coming up and I wish I could attempt all of the recipes! But, the CB H2O can only do so much!!

Hey, that's what I have too. I love the bright red H2O.

This weekend I'm gonna try meatloaf, ABTs and a few hotdogs. This will be my 3rd smoke. Gonna mod the fire bowl tomorrow night.

I'll grab try to grab some pics to post.

I've thrown hot dogs on already, they come out pretty good, I'm just not a hot dog fan. Try throwing a fattie on. Also for ABT's, I've used the little breakfast links, they fit right down inside the pepper, I would suggest putting some cheese in with them though. If you were going to making a hot dog ABT, maybe get some cheese dogs. Around here they also sell jalepeno cheese dogs aka fiesta dogs, kind of the same thing, just try throwing some of them on! n Literally anything you eat you can throw in a smoker, people here have even thrown hard boiled eggs in for some smoke!

Hotdogs are good. They take on more smoke if you split them down the middle though.

I've decided you can smoke anything you can eat and it's good!

Try the dogs, and do some piggy candy, it's very yummy

Try some Italian sausage...take them out of the casings first...takes about and hour and a half... fry up some peppers and onions...good stuff....

Smokey.......you beat me to it. I was looking up that newsletter when your thread popped up. I like to wrap the dogs with bacon on a spiral and cut along the bacon wrap. Yummmm
